The working principle of a self-priming pump is to fill the pump casing with water (or the pump casing itself with water) before starting the pump. At this time, a vacuum is formed at the inlet, causing the inlet check valve to open, and the air in the suction pipe to enter the pump and reach the outer edge through the impeller channel.
